Leave My Hair
By Caspar Whitwam, Eton College.

You make me wear white
You make me wear black
You take my phone
To help me sleep at night
I ask – it’s not an attack:
Leave my hair alone.

Falling like a curtain
It is my defence
Curling at my collar
Locks make me certain.

You drag me out of bed early
And rush me off to lessons
You nag me for my messy room
Smarten up, they said
Be a good son
Sort out your uniform.

Leave my hair alone,
It’s my Samson strength
It’s my halo, my horn
Cut it and I’m thrown.
